Sucking back Ibuprofen

In the week since I sprained my ankle, I’ve downed 42 Ibuprofens, sucked 49 Arnica pellets, and given myself 18 Arnica cream rubs. I’ve gained 3 pounds and gone for one deep water running session. It’s a little early to tell, but I’m hoping to try going for an easy run on the weekend. Meanwhile, my dad and brother are doing the Edge-to-Edge Marathon on Sunday in Tofino. I’m a bit jealous.

Sprained my ankle

My Olympic ambitions were dashed to pieces today when I twisted my ankle on a training run. I was running along, thinking to myself, “Boy, you’re pretty fast. Yeah. Maybe you can get a personal best in the 10K this weekend. Yeah. I’m quick. Yeah. AAAARRRRRGGHHHH!!!!! MY ANKLE!” I seem to do this every two years or so. Same ankle. If I’m lucky, maybe I’ll be able to run again in 10 days or so. Last time, I was out for 3 months. Maybe it’s time to switch to rollerblading.

Allergy season again

April to June are allergy months for me. I’m prone to do irrational things during this time of year–I can’t think clearly because I itch too much. Last May at this time, I decided to quit my job. This year, I have no job to quit, but if I did, I would surely quit it. And I hate allergy medication.

Vancouver Marathon

Went down to Kitsilano Beach this morning to watch the Vancouver Marathon. We cheered and clapped, and I kept yelling, “1 more mile to go!” After a while, another spectator pointed out that we were standing at mile 22. I wonder how many athletes collapsed at mile 23 because of me, having completely expended themselves with another three miles left.

Time to start thinking about camping

It’s finally summer weather again and it’s time to start thinking about camping. Here’s Sam getting a bath in a bucket when we camped last August at Ellison Provincial Park. This year, I’d like to head over to camp at Galiano Island.

Edge-to-Edge marathon

My dad and my brother are running the Edge-to-Edge marathon this year. I gotta run me a marathon someday too.
