Time to start thinking about camping

It’s finally summer weather again and it’s time to start thinking about camping. Here’s Sam getting a bath in a bucket when we camped last August at Ellison Provincial Park. This year, I’d like to head over to camp at Galiano Island.

Day two of kid-free life

On day two of kid-free life, I… 1) Washed the car; 2) Replaced all burnt-out light bulbs in the house; 3) Had a service call to reconfigure my home security system; 4) Unclogged the sink and tub drains; 5) Replaced the compression washer on the kitchen sink; 6) Performed preliminary analysis on 8 digital asset management systems; 7) Framed 3 pictures; 8) Did a half-hour Pilates work-out; 9) Purchased supplies to build a closet organizer for Gina; and 10) Made myself 3 meals and managed to keep the kitchen clean. If I was this productive all the time I would be very rich or very burnt out.

Sam, Ana and Gina are off to Nelson for a week

Sam, Ana and Gina are off to Nelson for a week. It’s the first time we’ve been apart since October 2002. I look forward to the best sleep I’ve had in 2-1/2 years… and to being really lonely in about 3 days.

Progress

Sam is almost walking. Ana is almost toilet trained.

Watching planes land

Sam and Ana and Gina and I parked at the end of the airport runway today and watched planes land. I’ve been wanting to do that for years. We even had a 747 land while we were there, though it wasn’t as spectacular as this.

They’re all Grampa to her

Having two sets of grandparents is confusing enough, but it’s confounded by Ana’s inability to differentiate between the words “grandpa” and “grandma”. So we’ve got “grampa” (grandpa McGrath), “grampa” (grandma McGrath), “grampa” (grandpa Loeppky), and finally, “grampa” (grandma Loeppky). She loves them all: they’re all grampa to her.

Edge-to-Edge marathon

My dad and my brother are running the Edge-to-Edge marathon this year. I gotta run me a marathon someday too.

Work is a slippery slope

Gina told me today that working after 6pm or on weekends in unacceptable. She is very right. Work is a slippery slope, especially when you find it engrossing. I have been caught in its poisonous tentacles for the last 10 days. I will have to cut off its legs.
